What We Do

Woman speaking at the NGA conference

Women Grocers of America (WGA) empowers, connects, and develops leaders at every level of the independent grocery industry.

When you engage with WGA’s content, insights, and experiences, you’ll advance your knowledge, deepen your professional relationships, and define and achieve success on your own terms. Our awards and scholarships recognize exemplary leadership and elevate promising college students pursuing careers in grocery.

Our Vision

WGA envisions a future where women are equally represented at the tables where decisions are made—not as invited guests, but as leaders.

We believe in:

  • A professional community where you can grow, be seen, and lead—no matter where you are in your career.
  • A motivating, supportive network that celebrates your wins and champions your success.
  • Year-round growth through personal and professional development, mentorship, networking, and high-impact events.

Membership engagement that fits your goals (and your busy schedule).

Our Story

For more than three decades, WGA has supported women connected with the grocery industry. Today, our fast-growing community is a self-sustaining, nationally recognized leadership organization.

Today, our personal and professional development programming is available in several cities as well as virtually. Our presence at the NGA Show includes mainstage sessions, formal education tracks, wellness and networking spaces, and sponsored programming. Our first WGA Symposium sold out in 2025.

Under the leadership of past presidents, Alison Castillo and Kristin Popp, WGA has evolved into the organization it is today. Today, Kristie Maurer, WGA Board President and Donna Zambo, WGA Board Vice President lead this network of women shaping the future of the grocery industry.

"The industry expertise and network was why I originally joined, but the group’s commitment to lifelong learning, personal growth and holistic well-being is why I’ll never leave. “
